The sea had risen during the night.
By morning it occupied half her face.
No one seemed to find this strange. The sea has that advantage: it is allowed things that would be considered unacceptable in anyone else.
She carried on with her life.
With some difficulty, naturally.
Since then, whenever someone asks what she is thinking, she tries not to tilt her head too far.
